NEW YORK — Manchester City's Pauline Bremer grabbed a brace of goals in a 2-0 win away to Reading and Chloe Kelly scored two superb long-range strikes of her own as Everton beat Bristol City 2-0 in the second round of games in the FA Women's Super League on Sunday.

City's Bremer cut inside and curled home a brilliant opener on the half-hour mark to give her side the lead. She poked home a second in the 59th minute to seal all three points and make it two wins out of two for last season's runners-up.

Everton's Kelly did her best to steal Bremer's thunder, first cutting in from the left and pinging a long-range shot in off the post. A minute later she did it again, blasting a brilliant first-time effort into the top-right corner.

Midfielder Aileen Whelan thought she had given Brighton & Hove Albion all three points at home to Chelsea but Finnish forward Adelina Engman fired home the equalizer in the first minute of second-half stoppage time to grab a point.

Tottenham Hotspur bounced back from their opening-day defeat to Chelsea, a Rachel Furness penalty giving them a 1-0 win over Liverpool, who had Niamh Fahey sent off for bringing down Rosella Ayane when she was through on goal in the 65th minute.

After losing 1-0 to Chelsea on opening day, West Ham notched up their first win of the season, beating Birmingham City 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Adriana Leon.

Manchester City and Everton are tied at the top of the table with six points each after two games, while newcomers Manchester United will host champions Arsenal in their first home game on Monday. — Reuters
