RIYADH — The Coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen rejected on Thursday the report published on Sept. 3 by a team of prominent international and regional experts on Yemen, saying that it lacks objectivity and impartiality.

Col. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesman of the Coalition, said that there is no truth in the panel’s findings that include allegations about violations of the international humanitarian law and international human rights law by the Coalition countries.

“The fallacies and accusations leveled against the Coalition in this report are only a continuation of the same accusations contained in its previous report published in 2018.

“The report is based on misleading information provided by unidentified third parties that have not been verified, as well as on allegations in the reports of some non-governmental organizations that have not been documented or verified, in addition to some media reports,” he pointed out.

The preliminary review of the report revealed that it is based on a number of incorrect assumptions by the team of experts, Al-Maliki said while emphasizing that the Coalition is fully committed to ensure that its military operations are compatible with the rules of international humanitarian and human rights laws.

“It is also bound to conduct the necessary investigation into any incidents involving alleged violations or abuses during military operations, and to prosecute those found guilty of any violations.

“The Coalition, in line with its obligations under international humanitarian law, provides voluntary assistance to those affected by collateral damage due to military operations that have been inadvertently flawed as the verification of its alleged military operations ends,” he said, adding that this confirms that the Coalition continues to fulfill its obligations under international law.

Al-Maliki said in the statement that the Coalition would continue extending cooperation with all the bodies and mechanisms of the United Nations concerned with the conflict in Yemen, so as to contribute to the achievement of peace, security and stability of Yemen and its people as well as that of other countries in the region.
