Saudi Gazette report

NEW YORK —
Saudi Arabia has expressed its concern over the little progress made in dealing with the crisis of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar along with the continuous violations of their human rights and their displacement from their homeland for an unknown fate in refugee camps.

This came in a speech delivered by the Kingdom’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Khalid Mohammed Manzlawi at UN headquarters in New York.

Dr. Manzlawi thanked the special envoy of the Secretary-General on Myanmar Christine Schraner Burgener for her briefing on one of the most important humanitarian issues being witnessed by the world.

He reiterated that the Kingdom welcomes the efforts by the governments of Myanmar and Bangladesh to find a solution to the refugee crisis and their return home in safety, dignity, peace and granting them full citizenship rights.

Dr. Manzlawi said that reports confirm that there is no tangible progress.

He asked what steps the UN envoy intends to take in coming days in order to achieve progress on the issue of the Rohingya minority and what is the time framework for achieving these.
