JEDDAH — The General Assembly of the International Organization for Relief, Care and Development (IOR), held its 12th annual meeting here recently. It was presided over by Assistance Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Dr. Abdul Rehman Al-Zaid. More than 100 members from Saudi Arabia and abroad attended the meeting. Majority of them were philanthropists, Islamic scholars, businessmen and influential personalities who discussed a number of issues and subjects related to humanitarian work. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Ahmad Mohammad Ali, former president of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sarhan, secretary general of IOR, in his welcome speech appreciated the members for attending the general assembly and urged them to enhance relief and charity work that goes in line with new technology, modern era and the most recent developments in the charitable and humanitarian field.
During the meeting, the general assembly discussed several important issues including constructive ideas to cope with the requirements in the humanitarian domain.
Dr. Al-Zaid praised the generous support being extended to IOR by the Saudi government under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman and said that this support has enabled the organization to be distinguished in its humanitarian and relief efforts. He asserted that IOR couldn’t have achieved its mission without the cooperation of its members.
The members of the general assembly and guests watched a documentary film featuring IOR’s achievements in various fields during the last year. They also received IOR publications.
