AL KHOBAR – The tandem of EPDA veteran darts player Christopher Calalo and Rommel Estabillo delivered tonners to overcome sporadic attacks from the dynamic duo of Orlie Rollan and King Recto, to emerge as champions in the Classified Doubles event of the “Rexson Fernandez Birthday Darts Tournament” organized last Friday by the Eastern Province Darters Association (EPDA) led by their Tournament Director Cornelio “Nel” Dela Cruz Jr. at Nesto Hypermarket in Al-Khobar.

Darts enthusiasts competed in different categories which was witnessed by a huge crowd of spectators and included lady contestants and a first timer Indian participant which signaled the entry of different nationalities who have been continuously gaining interest in the exciting sport of darts. Winners were awarded with trophies and special gifts, and participants were delighted with the food by sponsors Jazel Capati Baldres and Jonajoy Dela Cruz after the event. Raffle draws were also held with darts accessories as prizes.

Meanwhile, highly acclaimed perennial champion Rene Quetua challenged his counterpart Ronald Que to a battle of attrition to be declared as King in the Classified Singles event. Club President Willy De Vera displayed his excellent darts prowess to capture the Non-Rated Singles crown over hotshot Jhojo Angeles Acierto.

Santos Dominic Salas amazed the audience with his precise accuracy as he became the Classified Bulls Master Champion over Rene Quetua. EPDA President Willy De Vera once again proved that his earlier win was not a fluke when he lorded over his opponent Jhojo Acierto to be the Non-Rated Bulls Master Champion.

EPDA is a highly respected Filipino community & sports organization in the KSA Eastern Region, affiliated with the All Filipino Community & Sports Commission (AFCSCOM) under the auspices of the Philippine Embassy Riyadh and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Eastern Region Operations (POLO-ERO). Proceeds of their endeavors are going to their worthwhile community projects. — SG
