Forums to highlight Saudi promising renewable and clean energy opportunities

April 20, 2019

RIYADH – The Riyadh Exhibitions Company has announced that preparations for hosting the 22nd edition of the International Show for Electricity, Alternative Energy, Lighting, Power Generation, and Water Technology (Saudi Elenex 2019) are underway, with the event taking place from April 29 to May 1, 2019.

The exhibition will be held concurrently with the Saudi Sustainable Energy and Technology Forum (Saudi SETF 2019), with support from SABIC and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) as research partner.

Saudi Elenex 2019, which will be held at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Centre (RICEC), will highlight the Kingdom’s promising opportunities as the country moves forward with ambitious projects to transform the renewable and clean energy sector. The Saudi government has recently pledged to invest $109 billion to produce 41 gigawatts of solar power, in line with a comprehensive plan to produce 54 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2032.

“Saudi SETF 2019” is set to host discussions regarding current policies and regulatory laws related to renewable energy and electricity generation projects, the challenges facing localization of the solar and wind technology industry locally and explore investment opportunities within the renewable energy sector in the Kingdom. The exhibition will also serve as an exclusive platform for alternative and renewable energy suppliers to showcase their products.

Mohammed Bin Suleiman Al Al-Sheikh, Head of Marketing, Riyadh Exhibition Company, said: “Saudi Elenex 2019 will provide an important strategic platform to introduce the successive developments in the Saudi energy sector to the international community, especially in the field of clean and sustainable energy; which is a cornerstone of achieving the goals of the National Transformation Program 2020 and Saudi Vision 2030. The prospects are promising for domestic and international investors to contribute to the process of sustainable development as the Kingdom looks to operate more than 17 GW of solar energy and 6 GW of clean energy from wind and geothermal energy and waste conversion to energy by next year.”

Al Al-Sheikh added: “The upcoming event is receiving significant national and international attention, offering tremendous opportunities to establish effective partnerships among leading manufacturers, distributors, national companies and global leaders to employ emerging opportunities in the Kingdom, which is the largest regional solar market. This follows the announcement of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, of the Solar Power Project Plan 2030 – which is the largest in the world in the field of solar energy production. It aims to manufacture and develop solar panels in Saudi Arabia to generate solar power capacity between 150 and 200 GW by 2030.”

The 22nd edition of the event promotes the transmission channels of the most successful experiences and the exchange of best practices related to the development of the infrastructure of electric vehicles. The Saudi government views these as an integral part of efforts to achieve sustainable transport, in line with the Kingdom’s aim to support the global sustainable development goals 2030.”

He noted: “We look forward to supporting the national efforts to establish solid foundations for sustainable development, which take into consideration the integration of social, economic and environmental dimensions. We also seek to activate effective communication between leaders, decision and policy makers to promote the implementation of specific projects that serve the objectives of national strategies related to the water, environment and energy as the cornerstone to realize the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.”

“Saudi Elenex 2019” and “Saudi Aircon”, the 22th International Show for Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), represent a strong push toward harnessing the vast potential available in the Kingdom as the largest heating, ventilation and air conditioning market in the Middle East. — SG
