UN lauds Saudi, UAE pledge of $200m for Yemenis during Ramadan

April 19, 2019

UNITED NATIONS – The UN Security Council has commended Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates after pledging $200 million in humanitarian relief aid for Yemenis for the holy month of Ramadan, Saudi Press Agency said.

Members of the UN Security Council expressed deep concern that the agreements reached between the Yemeni government and Houthis in Stockholm four months ago had not yet been implemented and called for their immediate implementation.

This came in a press statement issued Thursday by the Security Council, in which it affirmed its support for the Stockholm Agreement between the two parties, its full support for the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Yemen and the Chairman of the Coordinating Committee for Re-deployment. — SPA
