Al-Owhali: GAMI to support local manufacturers

RIYADH —
The General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) will lay down policies, regulations and bylaws and issue manufacturing and export licenses for the public and private military industries in the Kingdom, said its newly appointed Governor Ahmed Al-Owhali.

GAMI will also manage research and development in this vital sector including allotting budgets, technology transfer, project management, benefiting from research centers and universities in the Kingdom and abroad.

It will set up research centers according to need, Al-Owhali said.

He added GAMI will support local manufacturers, contribute to their training, ensure appropriate distribution of projects among local companies in line with a mechanism that ensures growth of all companies.

It will enter strategic partnerships with the public and private sectors in the Kingdom and abroad so as to enhance the Kingdom’s capability in military industries.

GAMI will strive to localize this sector and make it an important tributary for the Saudi economy by creating job opportunities for the Saudi youth and increasing their contribution in the national economy.
