TM Hussain bags most prizes in Area 35 annual contest

Toastmasters Area 35 of Division K of District 104 conducted its annual speech contest with a theme “The Magical Power” at the Village restaurant recently. The contest comprised of four different categories; humorous speech, table topics speech, evaluation, and international speech contests.

‏International speech segment is the epicenter of the event wherein the champion can compete up to the international arena whereas the other winners will only be able to reach the district level.

The clubs, which participated in Area 35 level contest, are Jeddah Tamil Toastmasters Club (JTTM), MYX Toastmasters Club, Al Faneyah Toastmasters Club, and International Medical Centre (IMC) Toastmaster Club.

The chief Sergeant-at-Arms TM Sathyanarayanan set the stage and invited the Area 35 Director to open the meeting formally. Area 35 Director and Contest Chair TM Prabhu Krishnan opened the event and welcomed the gathering and thanked the entire contest organizing committee for their support in managing this mega event.

Inspirational messages were delivered by TM Samia Khan, Division K, director, and TM Prabhu Krishnan, Area 35 director.

DTM Marwan Dashshas, District 104 director, was the chief guest of the day. TM Ahmed Wazir, program quality director, District 104 director and DTM Abdullah Flimban, club growth director, District 104, were the guests of honor in the contest.

The Area 35 contest commenced with Humorous speech segment. The first place of this contest was bagged by TM Abdul Rahman Hassan Omar Haroun of the MYX Toastmaster Club, TM Zahir Hussain and TM Adam Abul Hassan both from the JTTM Toastmaster club took the first and second runner places. The chief judge for the contest was TM Osman Omer Bamasdoos, and the contest master was TM Abdul Rahman Kaidal.

The Table Topic Speech Contest was another interesting contest where the contestants had to deliver an impromptu speech for 1 to 2 minutes on a topic given on the spot. The first place was bagged by TM Hasan Fitaihi of IMC Toastmasters Club, while the second and third place winners were TM Mahamat Abdarahman Dangarama of MYX Toastmaster Club and TM Ahsan Javaid from IMC Toastmasters Club. The contest was anchored by TM Abdul Fattah and the same was judged by DTM Riyaz Abubakkar Sarang.

The Evaluations Speech Contest was preceded by a test speech delivered by TM Sameer Veeran Kizhadayil. The contestants evaluated the speech given by the test speaker. TM Zahir Hussain of JTTM Toastmaster club won the first place, while TM Ahsan Javaid of IMC club and TM Motaz Mousa Abba of MYX Toastmaster Club won the first and second runner up place respectively. The contest master TM Mohan Ganapathy ran the contest very professionally and TM Balasubramaniyan Vaidhyanathan was the chief judge for the competition.

In the International Speech contest, which was a 5 to 7 minutes speech delivered on a topic of speaker’s choice devoid of sex, religion or politics, the contestants from the different clubs of Area 35 enthralled the audience with their inspirational and thought-provoking speeches. TM Mahamat Abdarahman Dangarama of MYX Toastmaster Club bagged the first place in the International speech while TM Zahir Hussain of JTTM Toastmaster club and TM Adam Mohammed Abdullah of MYX Toastmaster Club won the second and the third place respectively. DTM Mohamed Ibrahim Maricar was the contest master for International Speech contest, and the chief judge was TM Mohideen Ali Seeni.

All the winners and runner ups were given plaques and the winner and the first runner up have qualified for the division contest which will be held on March 22 at the Trident Hotel.
