Toastmasters enthrall audience in Area 34 and Area 37 Contest

— Speakers enthralled the audience with their eloquence and oratory skills in the Area 34 and 37 Annual Contest of Division H held recently at a local restaurant in Jeddah in line with the theme “Explore to Excel”.

In a pleasant ambience, members of the Toastmasters fraternity gathered here to witness the Annual Area Contest in Humorous, Table Topic, Evaluation and International speaker categories. The event was a grand success and set a high standard in terms of its meticulous planning with the contest theme: “Explore to Excel”.

The chief Sergeant at Arms TM Prabhu Krishnan opened the meeting and introduced the master of the ceremony, TM Mohammed Abdul Sami, who welcomed the gathering and thanked the contest organizing committee for their efforts. He also thanked the members in completing their speeches and leadership projects and bringing more members to their respective clubs, which helped the Areas to become one of the leading areas in the Division H of Toastmasters in the Western Province.

Inspiration speeches were given DTM Marwan Dashshas, DTM Rashed Ali, and DTM Abdullah Flimban. DTM Dashshas is the District 104 director who was also the chief guest of the evening. DTM Rashed Ali, immediate past District 104 director, and DTM Abdullah Flimban, club growth director, District 104 were among the prominent guests of the contest.

TM Syed Nasir Khursheed, Area 34 , director and TM Ajmal Abdul Jabbar, Area 37 director, hosts of the contests gave their Inspiration speeches and best wishes to all. TM Saji Kuriakose, Division H director, too expressed the importance of soft skills in his address.

The Area 34 contest commenced with Humorous speech. This was a 5 to 7 minutes speech delivered on a humorous topic of speaker’s choice devoid of sex, religion or politics. TM Sadiq Hussain and TM Amrina Qaisar both from the Izhar Urdu Toastmasters club won the runner up and winner spots respectively.

The Table Topics Speech contest where the contestants had to deliver an impromptu speech for 1 to 2 minutes on a topic given on the spot, was won by TM Abdul Malik of Izhar Urdu Toastmasters club while the second and third place winners were TM Saji Chacko of Jeddah Malayalam Toastmasters Club and TM Dr. Khaja Yaminuddin from Izhar Urdu Toastmasters club.

Evaluations Speech Contest was attempted by five contestants preceded by a test speech delivered by TM Uma Maheshwari. The contestants evaluated the speech delivered by the test speaker. TM Saji Chacko of Jeddah Malayalam Toastmasters Club won the first place, while TM Fatima Ali and TM Amrina Qaisar both of Izhar Urdu Toastmasters club won the first and second runner up place respectively.

The contest ended with International Speech contest — a 5 to 7 minutes speech delivered on a topic of speaker’s choice devoid of sex, religion or politics. Five speakers from four different clubs of the Area 34 enthralled the audience with their inspirational and thought-provoking speeches. TM Amrina Qaisar bagged the first place while TM Dr. Khaja Yaminuddin and TM Saji Chacko won the second and the third place respectively.

In the Area 37 contest, the Humorous speech category was bagged by TM Surendrapal Singh of PACE Toastmasters Club, while the first and runner up place winners were TM Sameer Veeran Kizhadayil and TM Asker Ali Khan, both from HOPE Toastmasters Club.

In the Table Topic Speech Contest, the first place was won by TM Asker Ali Khan of the HOPE Toastmasters Club while the second and third place winners were TM Sheikh Khaja Mohideen of HOPE Toastmasters Club and TM Shaheeba VK from PACE Toastmasters club.

Evaluations Speech Contest was attempted by six contestants preceded by a test speech delivered by TM Azra Kirmani. The contestants evaluated the speech delivered by the test speaker. TM Asker Ali Khan of the HOPE Toastmasters Club won the first place, while TM Sheikh Khaja Mohideen of HOPE Toastmasters Club and TM Mohammed Siraj of WISDOM Toastmasters club won the first and second runner up place respectively.

In Area 37 International Speech contest, five speakers from three different clubs enthralled the audience with their inspirational and thought-provoking speeches. TM Ashraf Meleveettil of HOPE Toastmasters club bagged the first place, while TM Sadiq Hussain of WISDOM Toastmasters club and TM Riyaz Mohd Ilyas of PACE Toastmasters Club won the second and the third place respectively.

TM Mohan Kumar was the contest master of the humorous session, while TM Usman Bamasdus was the contest master of the Table Topics Speech Contest session, TM Mohammed Sameer compared the Evaluations Speech Contest and TM Khaleel Ahmed was the contest master for the International Speech contest.

The Chief Judge for the Humorous speech was TM Ibrahim Maricar, Table Topic Speech Contest was TM Mohammed Kunhi, Evaluations Speech Contest was TM Seeni Ali and International Speech contest was TM Saji Kuriakose.

All the winners and runner-ups were given winning plaques. The winner and first runner up have qualified to the division contest which will be held on March 15 in Jeddah.
