JEDDAH — The Saudi Art Council on Saturday launched its interactive workshops program at its headquarters at Gold Moor Mall in Jeddah.

Six specialized art workshops addressing various artistic skill sets will be supervised by experienced specialists in each field over the next three months. The workshops will conclude with an exhibition showcasing the works of all the participants.

The artistic program began with calligrapher Ibrahim Al-Arafi presenting a workshop on calligraphy and imagination, titled “The Limits of the Letter". This workshop on the basics of Arabic calligraphy was meant to stimulate the imagination and creativity of the participants. The workshop will take place every Saturday morning until April 24.

On Mondays of every week from Feb. 18-April 29, artist Wafaa Karsha will present a workshop titled “In the Shadow of a Tree”, which will introduce techniques and formal lessons in the expressive art of drawing on porcelain.

On Tuesdays from Feb. 19 to April 30, Mi’ad Al-Juhani will present a workshop titled “Moving Myth Stories” that will focus on techniques in translating design concepts into motion.

On Wednesdays, Mona Sunbol will present a workshop titled “Printed Stories” focusing on ceramics and silk screening techniques.

On Thursdays, children will be treated to an interactive artistic workshop titled “A trip and an adventure; Drawing and Painting’’.

Artist Ebtehal Al-Rajhi will conduct a workshop in painting and photography, dedicated to children between the ages of 8 and 13 years. The workshop aims to develop and direct the creative abilities and artistic imagination of children, as well as to introduce to them the development of artistic techniques in using different mediums for artistic expression.

On Saturdays, Dr. Effat Fadag will present a workshop entitled “Looking for clues and Finding Logic in an Illogical Reality”. This workshop relies on painting and photography in the search for the contents of forms, in order to generate visual stories through multiple media to produce the artwork, where visual memory plays an important role in enriching the imagination and the composition of the artwork and color handling. — SG
