Need to deal terror with an iron fist: NIFF

Saudi Gazette report

JEDDAH —
The North India Fraternity Forum (NIFF), a Jeddah-based social organization, has condemned in strong terms the terrorist attack on a convoy of security personnel in Pulwama, Kashmir, recently.

The attack resulted in the death of over three dozen security personnel as a terrorist reportedly rammed his bomb-laden vehicle into the bus transporting CRPF jawans. Several other personnel sustained grievous injuries.

At a NIFF meeting, participants urged the Indian government to take concrete steps to deal with the situation with an iron hand.

Authorities on both sides of the border have the onerous task of soothing frayed tempers and astutely and dexterously dealing with terrorism in all its forms and manifestations so that the nefarious designs of some misguided elements do not turn into a full-fledged war between India and Pakistan, speakers at the meeting opined, according to a press release issued by Iqbal Siddiqui, NIFF president.

The meeting, the press release said, unanimously condemned efforts by some fringe elements on both sides to vitiate the atmosphere and sow the seeds of hatred and animosity between the peace-loving Indians and Pakistanis.

Besides Siddiqui, prominent NIFF members and office bearers including Wazir Akhtar, Muhammad Sharif, Javed Khan, S. Athar H. Rizvi, Kader Khan, Zahoor Ansari, Ram Narayan Iyer, Captain Alim, Dr. Srinivas Rao, Arshad Rashid and Haseeb attended the meeting.
