Pak United bags RAFL trophy


RIYADH — Pak United bagged the Linkys Riyadh Asian Football League (RAFL) after defeating R10 FC 4-2 in a penalty shootout in a thrilling final here.

It was a final that had everything. Both the teams fought well and R10 FC stretched the champions and came so near to win the title.

Pak United took the lead early with a long ball from Ali Shah which was headed in by Rayyan into the right corner of the net. Yahya soon made it 2-0 after receiving a beautiful lob from Maqsood. R10 FC regrouped and hit back reducing the lead with a goal by Hafiz who scored from a narrow angle. R10 levelled the score 2-2 just 5 minutes before half time. But Pak United got a corner kick before the break and Fawad Tini scored to go for half- time with a 3-2 lead.

The second half was even more thrilling as R10 FC tied the score 3-3, sending the game into tie-breaker.

R10 FC missed 2 out of the first 4 spot kicks, while Pak United converted all to clinch it at 4-2. Ali Shah was named the Man of the Final for his rock solid defense.
