'Bird Box' Now Holds the Title for Most Viewed Opening for a Netflix Original Film

Netflix took to Twitter to announce the tremendous success of its newest Orginal film, Bird Box. Premiere just over two weeks ago, the post-apocalyptic thriller stars Sandra Bullock alongside Trevante Rhodes and John Malkovich, as Bollock ventures off into the wilderness with her children blindfolded — escaping a supernatural, unknown entity.

The total number of Netflix accounts that have turned into the film is now upwards of 45 million; this is not including the number of total streams or individual viewers, but only the number of accounts that have watched Bird Box. This new number now surpasses the record that was previously held by David Ayer’s Bright.

Rock Out With 12 Bajay At Midnight This New Year’s Eve

“Here is a song made purely out of my love for music. The same love that breathed life into my journey. The same love that resonates with all of you beautiful people. I took only that love when I entered sunset sound studio earlier this year and left everything else at the door. I forgot about all the numbers and the views and all the pressure that comes with it; and just let it all out in the studio. If you can even feel 5% of what I felt while making this, it's a success,” Atif Aslam captioned a photo from his new single titled ’12 bajay’ on his official Instagram page. The video has racked up nearly 1 million views on Youtube.

Netflix Confirms 'Black Mirror' Season 5 Will Debut in 2019

Having just released the interactive, choose your own adventure Black Mirror: Bandersnatch film on Friday, Netflix has just confirmed the hit show will be returning in 2019 for its fifth season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, due to the complexity of the movie’s choose-your-own-adventure premise, such as the branching paths and its many alternate endings, it’s no surprise this ambitious project required an enormous amount of time and work that the fifth season of Black Mirror has been delayed. The THR piece goes deep into how Bandersnatch was made, taking close to two years to produce, which ultimately led to creation of the in-house storytelling tool called Branch Manager. “We had to learn a new way of filmmaking, editorially and production-wise,” producer Annabel Jones told THR. “It’s a whole new approach that challenged every department.”

Bandersnatch has so many possible permutations that even Brooker lost count of how many different endings there are. Jones claims there are five “definitive” conclusions. With the success of Bandersnatch, Netflix will no doubt be benefiting from Branch Manager.

After a few teasers and unveiling the titles for the forthcoming episodes, Netflix has just shared the official release date for the third season of Stranger Things.

Announced at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Day, the new season will return on July 4, 2019 and will be comprised of eight new chapters.

Marvel Comics Releases a Teaser Trailer for its Upcoming 'War of the Realms' Event

Next year Marvel Comics is going full force to cap off the decade with its War of the Realms event launching in April. So much so, Marvel has released a teaser trailer for the storyline, which began its roots in Thor’s series.

The dark elf Malekith is invading Earth to serve as the final stage of a war that will see him rule all realms if he’s the victor. Earth’s heroes will have a final stand on their planet in a last ditch effort to save the realms.

“The story really begins when that war that’s been brewing for years in the pages of Thor explodes here in Midgard,” writer Jason Aaron explains, referencing Earth as the Asgardians do. “And at that point, it’s bigger than just a Thor battle: everyone, everyone, becomes a part of that battle.”

Marvel has gone to describe this event as one of its biggest since the acclaimed Secret Wars storyline, promoting it with the line, “Not since Secret Wars has a comic event had such far reaching consequences for the Marvel Universe.”
