Careless employees

THE story goes as follows. A section manager in a company offered the manager of a different department to transfer one of his employees to his department. Surprised at his request, the latter asked the former whether he wanted to exchange one of his employees with his.

The first manager told him that he simply wanted to transfer one of his employees to his department. The second manager knew immediately that the man was trying to get rid of an employee and make him his problem. He rejected the offer, saying that if he were good with him, then he wouldn›t have offered him for free.

Another story is of an employee who went to his friend, who is a manager in one of the departments, and offered to work under him. The excuse he gave was that he was not comfortable working under his previous and current managers.

This manager told his friend that the administration reserved the right to transfer any employee to any section considering the interests of work. The employee insisted and begged him to make the transfer possible. The manager asked him to give him three days to look into the matter.

During these three days, this manager went to the man›s previous bosses to ask about him and learned that this employee was a careless one. He was full of excuses for his absence from work.

Every now and then, he came up with an excuse or he would event claim one of his relatives died, to justify his absence. After all his relatives supposedly died, he started with distant relatives, and every three days, one of them would die, even when his vacation balance was zero.

All his previous bosses reached a dead end with this employee because of his careless behavior and continuous excuses. This employee thought that he could start a new page with this manager if he was transferred under him.

After three days, this employee returned to his friend, who told him that it was impossible for him to work under his department. The careless employee left his office very upset.

During my stint in administration, I met many employees like the ones I mentioned above. Managers always try to get rid of unwanted staff by transferring them to another department, even to a level where they are granted promotion so that the transfer is smooth.

Sometimes, this careless employee ends up getting a higher salary with more benefits than his hardworking colleagues, which is a clear injustice.

Careless employees are always ready to provide special services to their corrupt bosses. This is frustrating to the hardworking employees who end up thinking of becoming careless themselves so they could enjoy the same benefits a careless employee does.
