RIYADH — Wafaa Bint Abdullah Al-Rasheed, the founder of Dakakeen, has said the seventh edition of “Dakakeen Al-Shita’a 2018” charity exhibition comes within the framework of empowering Saudi women and enhancing their role in the national economy in line with Vision 2030.

She made the remarks during a press conference in Riyadh on Tuesday with the theme “Your Generosity is Our Support.”

The charity exhibition is being held under the patronage of Princess Adela Bint Abdullah, chair of Sanad Charitable Society for the Support of Children with Cancer.

Minister of Commerce and Investment Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi is also supporting the event.

“Dakakeen Al-Shita’a 2018” charity is scheduled to be held from Dec. 17-20 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The event is organized by Dar Al-Tamkeen Al-Sharqi for the Sanad Charitable Society to support children with cancer.

Al-Rasheed explained that the seventh edition of “Dakakeen Al-Shita’a 2018” is an important contributing factor for supporting Saudi female entrepreneurs in various fields.

Reem Bint Saleh Al-Hujailan, director general of Sanad Children’s Cancer Support Association, stressed that the charitable exhibition is one of the most important resources of the association and will help them to fulfill their obligations toward children in need and their families who tend to them and improve the quality of services provided.

Al-Rasheed said the patronage of Princess Adela for Dakakeen Al-Shita’a’s current and past editions was one of the most important factors for its success. She further pointed out that the attendees of the seventh edition of the exhibition have exceeded 130, which is very commendable.

She said 12 percent of the participants are from the Gulf states, 9 percent from other Arab countries and 2 percent are international participants, giving the event a positive outlook both locally and globally.

Al-Rasheed said the exhibition has succeeded in supporting the Saudi, Gulf and Arab designers by providing them with a unique platform to display their art and contribute to society. “Because of our dedication, quality, great effort, and good choice of participants, we have great confidence in the traders and shoppers hosted. Furthermore, we have successfully become an important destination for them in the City of Riyadh”.

Many creative designers are expected to participate in “Dakakeen Al-Shita’a 2018”.

Al-Rasheed confirmed that for the first time, a new field would be added in the seventh edition, with the participation of three prestigious brands in the automotive sector to support female leadership.

Moreover, the charity exhibition will include jewelry, accessories, home furnishings, and works of art by creative designers and artists at the local and international levels.

Al-Hujailan considered “Dakakeen Al-Shita’a 2018” to be one of the largest projects for securing financial resources of the Sanad Children’s Cancer Support Association. She explained that the charity exhibition is a great opportunity to spread the message of the humanitarian association and gain the support of society, especially by Saudi businesswomen. Besides, it is considered one of the most important cultural facets of the charity events in Riyadh. — SG
