MAKKAH —
Minister of Justice and President of the Supreme Judicial Council Sheikh Walid Al-Samaani announced on Monday the opening of a new appeals court in Jeddah in the near future.

The court will facilitate beneficiaries and fulfill their needs to deliver speedy justice, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The minister made the remarks while launching the first phase of activating the process of filing appeals in the Courts of Appeal as a second level of litigation.

“This process will enhance judicial guarantees, speed up the settlement of disputes and activate the powers of the Supreme Court, the judiciary, as well as the quality of judicial decisions, and the achievement of fair justice and transparency of the parties involved in the dispute,” he said.

In the Kingdom, the Courts of Appeal have been established by the Supreme Judiciary Council decision to register appeals if any in the judgments of the first instance courts in civil and criminal cases.

Al-Samaani inspected the facilities of the Justice Ministry in Makkah, which included courts of appeals, criminal, general, civil status, executive, commercial and labor.

The minister urged judges and the judicial services staff to invest in the digital transformation witnessed by the judicial facilities and to utilize the tools and facilities it provides to develop the work and improve the experience of beneficiaries of the judicial services.
