RIYADH —
The Ministry of Justice has revealed that nearly half a million messages have been sent to defendants’ mobile phones since the launch of the e-notification program on Dec. 14, 2017.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman had issued a royal decree ordering adoption and legal recognition of e-notices sent via SMS on verified phone numbers, e-mails, and accounts on government systems.

The service aims to fast-track procedures, achieve legal safeguards and positively impact the quality of rulings. It also helps speed up decisions and deter any obstruction of justice.

In addition to the implementation of e-notices, the ministry has launched many digitization initiatives, including paperless courts; digital integration of first instance courts and appellate courts; the business Intelligence platform; the real estate wealth system; and the PoA e-service.

Meanwhile, the General Court in Qurayyat in the northwestern province of Al-Jouf launched 13 e-services in a record time of 30 days, marking its commitment to digital transformation that the Justice Ministry has kick-started.

“The General Court in Qurayyat successfully implemented in a single month digital transformation to 13 e-services in line with the ministry’s plans for digitization and user-friendly services,” said Nayif Al-Jarallah, president of the court.

“Our court has launched the Najiz platform to provide judicial services through efficient digital mechanisms, sparing clients the trouble of making many court visits,” Al-Jarallah added.

“The court has also constituted a labor panel, aligned with the first phase of the labor justice system in the Kingdom,” he said.

“The e-services include filing of case statements online, e-notices, SADAD payments, and paperless appeal,” Al-Jarallah explained. “These services are extended according to a robust procedural framework and institutional work principles.”

He added that before restructuring the court procedures all scheduled cases were resolved and work was under way for reorganizing, indexing and scanning the archives.

“The enforcement and family panels have been transferred to the main court building, with staff redistributed for greater efficiency,” Al-Jarallah said. He said a new division was formed for studying, enumerating and scanning title deed applications.
