Al-Khobar — Saudi Arabia is officially revving up for Formula E as the ‘Road to Ad Diriyah’, roadshow promoting the ‘Saudia Ad Diriyah E-Prix’, drew crowds of excited fans and families to the Khobar Corniche this weekend.

The energetic crowd felt the excitement of Formula E and tried the fun activities before the ‘Road to Ad Diriyah’ heads to Jeddah.

Two contestants, Abdullah Al Dousari and Faisal Al Qahtani, prevailed at the ‘ABB FIA Formula E Road to Ad Diriyah Powered by Nissan’ esports tournament, and both will represent Khobar in the finals at Ad Diriyah in December, for a chance to win prizes worth SR1 million.

The weekend brought a first taste of the world-class motorsport action and family entertainment as Saudis of all ages were introduced to a brand new Gen2 Formula E car. The popular racing simulators brought out the competitiveness in old and young as they tried racing a Formula E car. The AR Experience ‘Flight of Icaros’ created smiles and thrills as it took fans on an imaginary flight through the sky. Families battled it out in the watt-bike challenge and regained their energy enjoying the outdoor cinema.

Prince Khalid Bin Sultan, President of the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation, said: “We are very pleased with the impact that the “Road to Ad Diriyah” Touring E Village had on the people of Khobar. Now we look forward to Jeddah on Nov. 22 and we promise our people there the same thrill and excitement.” — SG
