flyadeal adopts ‘only one bag’ cabin policy

lyadeal, Saudi Arabia’s Everyday Low Fares airline and the Kingdom’s third-largest carrier, has revised its cabin baggage policy to simplify passenger boarding and help its customers fly on time. flyadeal will permit one bag into the cabin per passenger, with effect from November 19th, 2018. The weight limit for the cabin bag is 7kg with maximum dimensions of 55x35x25cm (including handle and wheels).

Eyad Jamalallail, Airports Manager at flyadeal, said: “Because our flights are frequently full, we have sometimes run out of overhead bin space. When this happens, it can generate delays and a negative experience for our customers. We decided to address this with a new fair policy that is designed to allow more Customers space for their cabin baggage. While it does mean that if a Customer needs a purse or laptop onboard, it will need to fit in the one bag allowed, the just one bag policy will deliver a more streamlined boarding experience and our Customers and Crew will spend less time moving bags around the cabin.”

“Of course, Customers will sometimes need to carry more than 7kg,” added Sudeep Ghai, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, “and we would like to be clear that we are not penalising them for doing so. That’s why we have also reduced the price for checking in a 15kg bag as luggage that goes in the hold by over 25% to just SAR40. The cost will be higher if purchased at the airport check-in counter, and higher still if Customers bring an oversized or overweight bag to the gate that needs to be checked in. Our advice is the same as it has always been: pay for what you need and book early to keep the cost of your journey as low as possible.”

Eyad added: “We do realize there will be a period of adjustment, but we believe the overall experience will be quicker, smoother and better for all our Customers, which is why we are prepared to try things no other airline has done before in Saudi Arabia.”— SG
