Indonesian mission celebrates Independence Day with fervor

JEDDAH —
The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, here, celebrated the 73rd Indonesia Independence Day at Jeddah Intercontinental Hotel.

During the celebration, the students of the Indonesian school in Jeddah performed several cultural dances showcasing Indonesian folklore. Furthermore, traditional Indonesian musical instruments were played alongside an Arabian song, showing a fusion of the Saudi and Indonesian cultures.

Consul General of Indonesia Dr. Mohamad Hery Saripudin thanked Ambassador Jamal Balkhoyor, director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Makkah Region branch, for attending the celebration and said in his address: “It is our honor to welcome you and extend our profound appreciation to all of you, who attend our reception today in commemorating the 73rd anniversary of Indonesia’s independence.

“You might have known about the earthquake that happened in some areas of Indonesia. I take this opportunity, to express my appreciation to all colleagues and friends who have personally shared their sympathy and prayed for the bereaved family. I am deeply moved by these expressions and to see our friends and colleagues in Saudi Arabia opening their hearts to extend their assistance and supports.”

Saripudin added: ”Indonesia applauds the Kingdom’s extraordinary steps under the Saudi Vision 2030. We believe the Kingdom’s vision to become the heart of the Arab and Islamic worlds, the investment powerhouse, and the hub connecting three continents will be achieved. We are more than willing and stand ready to become the Kingdom’s strategic partner to accomplish the goals of the vision.”
