Well-known Czech literary works to be translated into Arabic

JEDDAH — The Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in the Kingdom, businessman Hussein Shobokshi, intends to translate some of the well-known Czech literary works into Arabic after commissioning a specialized institute to do the professional translation.

It will include the works of Vaclav Smil (Bill Gates’ favorite writer), as well as the book “Economics of Good & Evil” by the renown economist Tomas Sedlacek and the best-selling book “End of Procrastination» by Petr Ludwig, it is a famous self-development book. Ludwig is invited to lecture in Saudi Arabia early next year to highlight the content of his important and controversial book.

Hussein Shobokshi also invited the famous Czech pianist Ivo Kahanek, who is known for his outstanding performance in classical music, to perform a concert in the Kingdom early next year, in which the most important works of leading Czech composer such as Smetana and Dvorjak will be performed.

The Consulate will participate in a special pavilion at the International Book Fair in Jeddah for the second year in a row, in which it will showcase the most important literary works of great Czech authors such as Kundera, Kafka and Havel translated into Arabic. — SG
