Al-Faisaliah and Kempinski join a five-way tie contest

RIYADH — Kempinski jumped to a three-win streak after outlasting Sheraton, 91-81, in the 2018 Hoteliers League Riyadh Basketball Tournament. Starting the season with a loss against the champion Al-Faisaliah during the opening, Kempinski is currently enjoying a string of wins at the expense of Holiday Inn, Fairmont and the Sheraton as its latest victim.

Rommel Yalung powered the team with 27 points, 2 steals, 3 assists, 7 rebounds and a block to get the Fawri’s Player of the Game award. Three more players added in double figures, Philip Macayayong, Vincent Quinto and John Rey Belnas with 21, 20 and 16 points, respectively.

Sheraton on the other hand lost once again after getting its first win against Hyatt Regency last Oct. 8. Marvin Delos Reyes posted a huge 30 markers, while John Anthony Concepcion and Allan Delos Reyes chipped in with 16 and 15 points each.



Kempinski joined the league leaders Ritz-Carlton, Vivienda and Fairmont on top of the standings with 3-1 slate. Sheraton dropped to solo sixth place with 1-3 win-loss record.

The champion Al-Faisaliah Hotel delivered another high-scoring performance this time by beating the still winless Hyatt Regency, 98-58. The win also gave Al-Faisaliah a ticket to a five-way tie on top of the standings alongside The Ritz-Carlton, Vivienda, Fairmont and Kempinski with 3-1 record.

Niño Dela Cruz Lauriaga led his team with 24 points, 1 steal, 4 assists, 14 rebounds and 2 blocks and was awarded Fawri Money Transfer Services' Player of the Game. Four more players posted in double figures — Levison Pineda (16), Bryan Christian Ambrosio (15), Rey Eusebio (13) and Jurald Dave Ybanez (13).

Reymar Olivo is the lone player from Hyatt Regency Riyadh Olaya to score in double figures with 19 points. Hyatt joined Holiday Inn Riyadh Meydan at the bottom of the rank with 4-0 win-loss slate.
