RIYADH
— The Ministry of Justice has unveiled details of its new organizational structure, which aims to boost the ministry’s digitization and women empowerment plans. The new structure was approved by the Saudi Cabinet last week.

The new hierarchy meets international best practices, it was developed based on research and plans being set by the ministry to move toward realizing the vision, the ministry said on its website.

Justice Minister Waleed Al-Samaani has always been keen on building institutional rules of work, observing the highest quality and efficiency and extending services in the best possible manner.

The new structure introduces the positions of deputy minister and assistant minister for planning, development and digitization, and includes an independent directorate for women and another for client services reporting directly to the minister.

For building the new hierarchy, the ministry had taken into account the requirements of its strategic plan, conforming to the National Transformation Program 2020. The ministry included a road map for implementation, programs for training and improving efficiency, and an experimental structure to be used for a full year.

The new structure includes projects relating to the ministry’s infrastructure, administrative development, institutional efficiency, digitization, enhanced procedures, evaluation, and cost-effectiveness.

It also includes a sector for planning, development and digitization, and another for the ministry’s main activities, headed by the deputy minister.

The new organizational chart will go through several stages of implementation, including designing and implementing a pilot structure for one year, then developing it to enhance the justice sectors, support the ministry’s strategic plan and integration with Vision 2030, and ensure easy transfer of duties, the ministry said.

In addition to the new chart, the ministry issued an organizational guide detailing the ministry’s objectives, sectors, agencies and specific duties. The guide also defined the overall objective of the Ministry of Justice, namely “to supervise courts and notarial offices administratively and financially by suggesting proposals and projects that contribute to the progress of the justice sector.”
