JEDDAH — Everyone loves weekends! It is the time when you can take rest from the daily routine of your school or work. It is the time for family reunions with your grandparents, all the uncles, aunts and cousins. A lot of food and a lot of fun. However, all the fun time must come to an end.

After a long fun-filled relaxing weekend, waking up on Sunday for school is the most difficult task of the day. School looks boring, and you feel like sleeping till noon just as you did on the weekends. It makes you sad and irritated at school in addition you find it hard to take interest in you studies.

These Sunday blues makes you tardy, tired and tense for school. But the good news is that you can fight your Sunday blues by preparing well before Sunday. Once you set your proper routine, you’ll never have to face the blues again.

• Remind yourself that school is a fact. It is your gateway for education which can help you build the kind of future you want. There is no other way!

• Don’t worry about school. It is not a haunted house filled with ghosts and witches. Just keep calm and think of a school as a place with lots of your friends and kind teachers. A kid who feels stressed about school can have headaches or stomachaches, which is definitely not good for your health.

• Get a good night’s sleep. Try to set a routine of sleeping early on Saturday night so that you can wake up fresh in the morning for school. Remember if you will not get enough sleep, it will become your big reason for the Sunday blue. You’ll feel grouchy and tired the whole day

• Furthermore, if you don’t get enough sleep — you will not feel like eating anything in the morning in turn making you grumpy even more. You can’t take decisions and you can’t concentrate on the lesson. You might forget your stationary or books at home. The best way to overcome all this negative effects is by preparing a night before school. Put all things in order, pack your bag with the necessary stuff, and tell your mom what you want for breakfast and for lunch in school.

• If none of this make you feel better then imagine what will happen of you don’t go to school for a day. It might seem like a good choice, but it just makes it harder to go to school the next day.

• Find out why you don’t like school. Is it the classwork or the reading, which is hard and it is getting difficult for you to catch up? Maybe the schoolwork is easy and you’re are getting bored. It could be because of a teacher or some other student who is stressing you.

• Find help. Talk to someone about your problems and don’t just keep it inside. Your mom, day, teacher, friend, counselor will be able to help you.

• Write a Journal about your day at school and share your feelings. It will make you feel happy that you have a story to write every day.

• Highlight the reasons why you should go to school. Is it the canteen or your friends in school? Or maybe because you love your teacher and learn about new stuff every day. Some kids like challenges and school offer them the opportunity to solve problems in life and to grow up.

Find out the positives in life and tell yourself you can do it always!
