900,000 fireworks, drones creating Saudi flag shape among many celebrations planned

The nation turned green on Saturday on the eve of the 88th Saudi National Day.

Green festoons and green Saudi national flags were seen everywhere. Billboards were decorated with the photos of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense.

A number of cultural and entertainment activities have been planned by various public and private sectors across the Kingdom.

The General Entertainment Authority is organizing 12 major events which include airshows and fireworks.

A record 900,000 fireworks lasting 18-minute will light up the sky in 20 regions and cities.

The Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones (SFCPD) and the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) will launch the world’s two largest Saudi flags with a length of 400 meters and width of 350 meters. These flags will be registered in the Guinness Book of Records.

Three hundred drones will fly over Riyadh and Jeddah in the shape of the Saudi flag.

“Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) formally kicked off National Day celebrations on Friday evening in Al Hukum Palace in Riyadh,” Abdullah Al-Otaibi of ADA told Saudi Gazette.

He said that programs will conclude on Sunday evening at 11:00 P.M.

The iconic suspension bridge, also known as the hanging bridge, at Wadi Laban in southwest of Riyadh is will offer a spectacular view of the city awash with green.
