SACC inter-company tourney begins

RIYADH — 3-Cups Studio Casablanca Farms, Kudu and Ma’aden beat their opponents in contrasting fashion in the 8th annual Saudi Airlines Catering Inter-Company Basketball Tournament at the SACC accommodation basketball court here last Friday. The league features nine teams.

Khalid Abdulmohsen Abuhaimed, SACC compound management, received the visitors and participating teams. Saudi Airlines Catering’s Danilo Alonzo Sy emceed the opening ceremony. Joseph Fahad Nasr of Kudu led the oath of sportsmanship. Abuhaimed made the ceremonial toss. Kudu distributed snacks to visitors as their simple way of thanksgiving.

Winning the Best Team in Uniform awards were 3-Cups Studio Casablanca Farms; Kudu and Ma’aden. The other special citation recognitions went to 3-Cups Studio Casablanca Farms (Most Artistic Uniform Design/Best Uniform Logo Design); Kudu (Most Number of Team Players); Ma’aden (Best Banner Design/Best Footwear Design).

Ghulam Aboobacker and Jesberth Paring stamped its class in a 63-51 victory over TYPSA Consulting Engineers and Architects of Jun Perez and Dan de Castro. Inspired by the presence of their team management, the trio of Mark Sunga, Darwin Villas and Vincent Dimacale, supported by Guillermo Cutamora and Harold Hangad, led the charge for 3-Cups Studio Casablanca Farms.

Kudu of Fundador Aguinaldo and Charlie Toledo paraded recruits Julius de Lumen, Brian Coronado, Fernando Pasig and towering Joseph Fahd Nasr along with mainstays Jerome Artiaga, Arnolfo Piodos, Joven Calumpang and Federico de la Cruz to defeat Sidra Lion–Al-Shaya 60-35.

Last season’s first runner-up Ma’aden of John Paul Naval and Necsan Cabadonga slammed the door on Hospitality by winning their match with score line 59-47.

The Saudi Arabia Basketball Referees Association handles the tournament officiating.
