Cairo — Salah Mursi Abu Al-Abbas, whose wife and two daughters were found dead at their Cairo apartment last week, confessed to killing his family. His motive, as told by a security source according to Egyptian daily Shorouk News, was that he feared that they would be impoverished after he lost all of his money at the stock market.

When he was asked about scars and wounds on his hands, he said he was playing with his daughter a few days before the crime. The police thus ordered referring him to forensics to confirm the timing of the wounds.

Salah initially claimed that he discovered the crime when he went home and said that a case containing $19,000 was also stolen, adding that this money is from an apartment he inherited from his father and later sold.

However, when the police found out that Salah had not sold any apartments recently.

In later confessions according to security sources, Salah changed his alibi and claimed that he discovered he was infertile caused by medicines he was taking to cure schizophrenia. This created several problems between him and his wife as he doubted her loyalty.

According to the police report, the 38-year-old mother was strangled to death with her headscarf, while one daughter, 14, was strangled using a telephone cord and the younger daughter, 12, was suffocated with a pillow case. — Al Arabiya Engish
