Swarovski placed creativity and craftsmanship front and center at the 2018 edition of Salone del Mobile with ‘Swarovski Palazzo,’ a specially created immersive installation. On opening night, the brightest lights in design were invited to an exclusive cocktail at the palazzo to celebrate the world of Swarovski interiors, and discover a fresh season of Atelier Swarovski home décor and Swarovski Crystal Palace lighting designs.‘Swarovski Palazzo’ transformed the hidden courtyard of Milan’s neo-classical Palazzo Serbelloni into a grand greenhouse. Filling the expansive outdoor space, the custom-built conservatory showcased displays of sparkling home décor designed in collaboration with leading luminaries who pushed the boundaries of crystal artistry with their own unique expression of form. Nendo, Patricia Urquiola, Peter Pilotto and John Pawson’s individual collections feature candle holders, vases, bowls and mirrors, which celebrate the delicate and precise crystal-cutting art mastered by Swarovski over the past 120 years. In addition to these collections, Atelier Swarovski debuted its first in-house designed homeware line, with a strong focus on craftsmanship and innovation. Described as ‘jewels for the home’ by Creative Director Nadja Swarovski, the contemporary collection includes everything from scented candles, trays and jewelry boxes to desktop accessories, vases and candle holders. The impressive space was illuminated by new lighting pieces from Swarovski Crystal Palace, including ‘Luminous Reflections’ by Tord Boontje and ‘Cyanometer’ by Marjan van Aubel. Intricate and minimalist, respectively, the exclusive crystal chandeliers catch and refract luminous beams within rippled surfaces and crystal prisms for a softer, more subtle light.Rounding out the experience, guests were invited to indulge in Viennese pastries at Daniel’s Café, a re-imagining of the namesake restaurant at Kristallwelten next to Swarovski’s headquarters in Wattens. After refreshments, visitors could visit the pop-up shop to choose their own piece of Atelier Swarovski home décor or jewelry to take home.Atelier Swarovski’s first home décor collection made its debut at Salone del Mobile in 2016. The annual tradeshow, now in its 56th year, provides both emerging and established design talents with an internationally recognized platform to promote and advance their work. Driven by a passion for collaboration and a mission to reimagine home décor, Atelier Swarovski returns to Salone each year with a new season of collections that take crystal creativity to new, previously unimagined heights.

Atelier Swarovski

Designer Collaborations

Swarovski is launching the third phase of the Atelier Swarovski’s home décor collection of designer objects, inspired and informed by crystal as a creative material. This year Atelier Swarovski’s distinguished line-up is augmented by four new collaborations with leading design luminaries who have each pushed the boundaries of crystal artistry with their own unique expression of form.

Peter Pilotto

London-based fashion designers Peter Pilotto present their first home collection for Atelier Swarovski: a range of striking candelabras. Designed as an extension of their jewellery collection, the vibrant and colourful candelabras use structural forms that are inspired by Alexander Calder and Spanish architect, Cesar Manrique.

John Pawson

As a longstanding Swarovski collaborator, British architectural designer John Pawson brings his considered and spare minimalism to the Atelier Swarovski range, presenting his collection of candle holders, vases and bowls in a clear crystal. Employing the richness of simplicity and focus on materiality, John Pawson has designed his objects with fine, irregular facets. This collection is a true celebration of the delicate and precise crystal-cutting art which Swarovski has mastered for over 120 years.

Nendo

Japanese studio Nendo presents the ‘Tangent’ and ‘Softpond’ table-top collections, bringing its refined aesthetic to the Atelier Swarovski homeware range. The playful and geometric ‘Tangent’ collection of candle holders, vases, trays and mirrors features newly developed crystal elements placed at a tangent to rectangular metal frames. In turn, the rounded crystals appear to be floating in the lightweight structures.

Nendo’s subtle ‘Softpond’ collection of solid crystal bowls is inspired by water and nature. Available in Montana blue or emerald crystal, the intensity of the colours will vary depending on the density of the crystal, creating a similar effect as seen in ponds or lakes where the water goes from deep to shallow.

Atelier Swarovski debuts

in-house home décor collection

As a world first, Atelier Swarovski is launching its debut in-house collection, designed under the creative direction of Nadja Swarovski. Inspired and informed by crystal, the new range encapsulates and showcases the DNA of the Atelier Swarovski brand. It includes a wide range of home décor from scented candles, trays and jewellery boxes to desktop accessories, vases and candle holders and each piece is carefully designed with a strong focus on craftsmanship and innovation.

“We are delighted to be back in Milan, showcasing the wonderful designer collaborations that have become synonymous with the Atelier Swarovski brand. As a world first, we will also be presenting our inaugural in-house collection, a range of ‘jewels for the home’ that truly embody the craftsmanship and innovation of Swarovski,” Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board, commented.

The new in-house collection pieces will enhance and complement the existing designer collaborations with price points ranging from €50 to €4,000.

Swarovski Crystal

Palace 2018

Swarovski presents two new additions to the revived Swarovski Crystal Palace range of exclusive crystal chandeliers with designs by Dutch designers Tord Boontje and Marjan van Aubel.

Incorporating Swarovski’s first ever unfaceted lighting components, Swarovski and Tord Boontje have expanded the intricate ‘Luminous Reflections’ chandelier range with the introduction of Matte Silver and High Gloss 24kt Gold finishes. The new finishes of the frame complement the rippled surfaces of the crystal compoments, designed to produce a soft and organic light which replicate the reflections of sunlight on water.

Swarovski also presents the ‘Cyanometer’ chandelier range by Marjan van Aubel. Her innovative design practice encompasses sustainability and technology, winning her a host of prestigious prizes, including being named as “Designer of the Future” at Design Miami 2017. Her three pieces for Swarovski Crystal Palace - a floor lamp, ceiling lamp and wall light - stand for a new generation of design, being the most future-forward it has ever produced. These ideas have since expanded to look at how the sky bends light and how this relates to the way that crystals refract light.

The silhouettes of her lamps are minimalist, with each design a simple ring shape with a diameter of either 60cm or 90cm.
