Jeddah — Thousands of people offered Eid Al Fitr prayers in the early morning hours in Jeddah at mosques and temporary erected Musallahs across the city. Though many mosques and Musallahs have witnessed less crowd compared with previous years.

They congregated in early dawn hours and spent time by reciting Talibiah and waiting for sunrise to begin prayers.

The normal weather added to Eid joy, though General Authority of Metrology and Environment Protection predicted over 85 percent humidity with temperature up to 43 Celsius degree on Friday.

It was visible that fewer crowds of expatriates and their families at Eid prayers as many had left for their home countries for holidays and some also for good. Also most of Saudi families opted to spend Eid in their native places in the countryside thus contributing to the lesser numbers.

In Jeddah, Eid prayers were offered at 332 Mosques and Musallah, which is less compared to previous year’s Eid Al Fitr where prayers were offered at 371 places. Jeddah Municipality had deployed 1,054 personnel for cleaning of 332 Eid prayer places.

On the occasion of Eid, Jeddah Mayor Dr. Abdul Latif Al Harity had launched an awareness program of city cleaning and maintaining public utilities especially in the corniche area.

The campaign was launched after prayers at Fatima Zahra mosque, a popular visitors destination at corniche, said Jeddah Municipality in a statement on Friday.

The awareness campaign will last for 5 days at 13 different places in the city.

The ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance identified 7,495, including 1,233 in Makkah region, mosques and Musallahs across the Kingdom for Eid prayer arrangements.
