Saudi fans flock to World Cup Tents

Jeddah — As the FIFA World Cup 2018 kicked off on Thursday with a match between hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia, Saudi football fans in Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah and Dammam flocked to luxurious tents built especially for the occasion of 2018 FIFA World Cup, organized and supported by the General Sports Authority under the slogan “Live the World Cup”.

The huge tents opened its doors to receive spectators of the global event running from June 14 to July 14.

Two hours ahead of the opening match at the World Cup tent built here in Jeddah on King Road on 20,000 square meters, around 600 fans filled the huge tent and began cheering and applauding their Saudi team as the game got under way.

According to organizers, the aim of these tents to support the Saudi national team in its 5th participation in the World Cup, as well as to provide and prepare integrated platforms through which families and individuals can watch the matches of the World Cup 2018 and enjoy the atmosphere along with the accompanying programs.

Organizers prepared three tents that are adapted to receive visitors daily and without any charge, and the main tent takes nearly 600 people.

In order to give the event a competitive atmosphere, the General Sports Authority has provided competitions and games for children and special games for adults related to the World Cup. There is also a snack area provided by 15 "Food Trucks".
