Keralite community bids adieu to Morayur

JEDDAH
– A prominent Indian community leader and social worker C.K. Morayur is leaving the Kingdom for good. Several community organizations from the southern Indian state of Kerala organized farewell parties in honor of him. The speakers commended his outstanding contributions in a wide range of areas including media, community service and social work. They also noted that Morayur had carved out a niche for himself as an event organizer and tour coordinator par excellence while serving the Indian community for over three decades during his stint in Jeddah.

Morayur had worked with a number of companies including Halal Food, Refined Food, and Modern Contracting and he had to his credit an excellent career record in various positions such as secretary, purchasing manager and marketing manager. Morayur has served Gulf Madhyamam daily as its Jeddah reporter for more than 15 years and was the general secretary of Jeddah Indian Media Forum (JIMF). A member of the consultative committee of the Jeddah North Zone chapter of Thanima Cultural Forum, he served it in various capacities such as public relations officer, Haj Qafila convener, volunteer captain, and tour coordinator. He was also patron of the Jeddah chapter of Morayur Valanheri Mahallu Committee.

Zeenath Ruksana is his wife. The couple has four children — Musheer Muhammad (Jeddah), Mubashir (Canada), Rameesa and Rumaisa.

C.H. Basheer, president of North Zone, presided over the sendoff party organized by Thanima Cultural Forum. Those who spoke on the occasion included C.K. Muhammad Najeeb, Abdul Shukoor Ali, N.K. Abdurahim, Eng. Moosakutty, Najmuddeen Ambalangad, Usman Pandikkad, Abdussubhan, Abdul Latheef Karinganad, and P.P. Moosakutty. In his speech, Morayur called on expatriates to take advantage of the vast opportunities in the Kingdom and convert challenges into opportunities with hard work, dedication, commitment and sincerity.

JIMF also organized a farewell party for Morayur. President Hassan Cheruppa presided over the function in which General Secretary Nishad Ameen welcomed the gathering and Treasurer Jaleel Kannamangalam proposed the vote of thanks. P.M. Mayinkutty, Mohammed Suhaib, Jafarali Palakkode, Jehadudheen A.K, Sadikali Thuvvur, K.T.A. Muneer, Zulfikar Othayi, C.K. Shakir, Kabeer Kondotty, Ebrahim Shamnad, Abdurahman Thurakkal, Hashim Kozhikode, Nasar Karakunnu, Sirajudheen P.K, K.T. Musthafa, and Bijuraj Ramanthali spoke on the occasion.

In his speech, Morayur thanked all members of the local media fraternity for their support to him. The Jeddah chapter of Morayur Valancheri Mahallu Committee also organized a sendoff party for him.
