RIYADH — The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and India trade and cultural links have been going strong for a thousand years and the recent visit of Indian Ambassador Ahmad Javed to King Saud University was another move to renew and reinforce the steady and enduring ties between the two countries.

The Indian Ambassador visited the university on May 9 and was received by the senior officials headed by the Vice Rector Dr. Abdullah Salman and they had a detailed discussion on how the undergraduates of KSU could take higher studies in science, engineering and management in some world renowned institutions of India that are ranked among MIT and Caltech of USA.

More and more men and women graduates from KSA will find a culturally comfortable and educationally stimulating atmosphere in India at significantly low cost. Similarly, there is lot of scope for experienced professors and smart researchers of India to find suitable openings in KSA. A committee will be constituted to explore all possible avenues in this line.

Later the Dean of Science Professor Nasser Daghri and Research Chair Professor Vadivel Masilamani took the envoy around to varsity on a quick tour of the advanced facilities available in KSU. The Ambassador was very proud of the contributions made by Indian scientists of KSU.

He was much impressed by the excellent facilities of Biomarker research center and high quality output in research chair in laser diagnosis of cancer headed by Professor Mohamed Salhi. Professor Masilamani later demonstrated how a virulent blood cancer like acute leukemia could be detected and monitored using US patented laser diagnosis techniques.
