JEDDAH
— Jeddah University has completed the training of 385 teachers, both from public and private schools, in Jeddah to master a number of physical education skills in order to implement physical education programs that promote health of female students, Madina newspaper reported.

Nada Mohammad Yaghmour, professor of Information Technology at the University of Jeddah, explained, "The initiative was implemented during the current school year in 5 days over 5 weeks, during which the teachers received the basic skills of physical education."

The training contained two components: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part covered safety guidelines before starting any sports activity, such as warm-up, comfortable sneakers, and other measures designed to ensure athletic participation.

As for the practical side, the instructors were trained on the basic skills of jumping and football, and how to receive the ball from other teammates. They were also trained in the best way to manage and train the students during the pre-class morning period.

Yaghmour pointed out that the practical training took place in one of the private schools where there is a suitable sports stadium. She noted that 111 teachers were trained in the first week, 81 in the second week, 68 in the third week, 56 in the fourth week, and 69 in the last week of the initiative.

She explained that some teachers were able to practice what they learned with their students in their schools while others were unable to do so because of the lack of possibilities — such as lack of space and the absence of a sports stadium.
