DAMMAM
— The Women Driving Center at Aramco launched its 34-hour driving program to offer driving courses to 3,400 candidates a year.

The center’s Training and Development Head Nabil Al-Dibl said the candidates would undergo 10 hours of theory and 24 hours of practice in a well-designed program.

“We have the latest learning technology available to ensure that our candidates glean the most out of our program. We not only aim to graduate women who can drive but women who will be an example of an excellent driver,” said Al-Dibl.

He added the center adheres to the Traffic Laws and Regulations and to the Laws of Safety and Security.

“Moreover, Aramco is hiring women drivers. We have already received 200 applications and will be listing only 50 of the applicants after a rigorous process of scanning and testing of the applicants,” said Al-Dibl.

He also said the program covers the basics of driving and road etiquette as well as driving in extreme and inconvenient weather such as driving under rain and through the fog.

“Each candidate will receive a personalized report of her performance showing her strengths and weaknesses,” said Al-Dibl.

Ameera Al-Abdulqader, project engineer, said she does feel a bit intimidated about driving.

“It’s a new experience for me but I’m sure that once I study it and train at it I’ll be good at it. I was also intimidated on becoming an engineer but by studying engineering and now on the job I’m getting to be good at what I do,” said Al-Abdulqader.

Rajaa Al-Ramadan, HR employee, said the program organizers were very keen on employing women trainers.

“They prioritized employing women who are excellent drivers and are qualified to be trainers. They then looked at the trainers etiquette and conduct records,” said Al-Ramadan.
