RIYADH — Abdullah Bin Fahd Al-Hussein, president of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), and Nawaf Al-Timyat, deputy president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) and chairman of the Preparatory Team for Participation in the Russia World Cup, have co-dedicated "SPA Icon" designed to transmit the news of the Saudi soccer national team at the Russia World Cup finals 2018 in both Arabic and Russian languages.

Al-Hussein welcomed the launch of this sports-media project aimed at highlighting the participation of the national team in this World Cup, and, at the same time, introducing to the world the multifarious, marvelous development of the Kingdom in several fields within the developmental steps adopted by SPA, which has the support of the Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Awwad Bin Saleh Al-Awwad, who is also the chairman of the board of directors of SPA.

Al-Hussein lauded the efforts being exerted by Turki Bin Abdulmohsen Al Al-Sheikh, president of the General Sports Authority (GSA), in order to promote sports in the Kingdom. He said that Saudi sports have made great strides in different arenas following the launch of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which included a comprehensive developmental view presented by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, who also chairs the Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA).

Al-Hussein stated that the qualification of the Saudi national team to the World Cup finals is in itself a realization of a dream of any country. He promised that his organization would highlight the event in a new way to its readers and viewers. The on-the-spot coverage of the Saudi team will dominate, no doubt, Al-Hussein added.

Al-Timyat too expressed his thanks to and appreciation of SPA president for adopting this idea to cover the news of the Saudi national team during the Russia World Cup finals in both Arabic and Russian. He wished the SPA team every success and paid tribute to the new joint media effort between SPA and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF). – SPA
