MANY Ramadan products that are showcased in the annual exhibition of Jeddah’s National Consumer Industries ‘Consmix’, grabbed the attention of many families and the exhibition drew a large number of visitors this year.

Cleaning supplies and products, perfumes and cosmetic produces, carpets and furniture, clothes, thobes, accessories, and gifts, were some of the presented items in the event. Several local food companies showcased their products, too. Egyptian, Syrian, and Indian dresses for women of all ages were also available. Children found some traditional clothes to buy.

The exhibition started on May. 1 and will continue until May 14 at the Jeddah Centre for Events and Forums. The exhibitions doors open at 4.30 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m.

Several mothers attend ‘Consmix’ every year to prepare for Ramadan.

Maram Ahmed, a Saudi mother in her 30s, said, “I wait for this exhibition every year to buy Ramadan thobes for myself and my daughter. I also purchase some cosmetic products. I like it because the clothes here are cheaper than in other Ramadan’s events and bazaars. The exhibition also could be a place for trying out new food products that families can use in their cooking.”

May Mohammed, is another mother in her late 20s, who said that she visits ‘Consmix’ every year with her relatives to buy her Ramadan supplies and items, as well as, clothes.

“The products here are reasonably priced and in the clothes sections you can still have a space to bargain the prices with the buyers. Few suppliers also sell unique comfortable thobes, while others have the daughter and the mother matching pieces. The choices of the food products is more than the last year in my opinion.”

She added that she purchased some foodstuff for her home and Ramadan gifts for her family. She believes that this annual exhibition is a suitable place for families to socialize.

“The place reminds me of the old days and good memories of Ramadan. You can find many products that is related to the holy month such as Vimto,” Hamed Ali said.

One of the exhibitors explained many visitors were buying from him and many of those people liked his products. He added that he is expecting to earn more profits than previous years. — Shahd Alhamdan
