SCC holds 13th AGM in Jeddah

JEDDAH — Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC) held its 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Hotel Crown Town here with delegates from all affiliated associations attending the gathering.

The representatives who graced the meeting were: Khurshid Zafar, Ilyas Mustafa and Dr. Syed Ziauddin from Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA), Farhat Mahmood and Tahir Karamat from Eastern Province Cricket Association (EPCA), Tariq Javed and Karim Khan from Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA), Aafaque A. Masudi from Al-Qaseem Cricket Association (AQCL), Faisal Amin, Adnan Afridi and Zeeshan Amin from Tabuk Cricket Association (TCA), Akram Qureshi, Mazhar Khan and Suhail Nazir Wani from Yanbu Al-Sinayah Cricket Association (YACA), Amanat Ali and Sajid Rana from Madina Cricket League (MCL), Farasat Ullah Afridi and Qurban Ali Bhatti from Aseer Cricket League (ACL) and Liaquat Ali and Chaudhry Arshad from Jizan Region Cricket Association (JRCA). The meeting discussed all issues related to cricket in Saudi Arabia.

One of the oldest cricket leagues in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh Cricket League (RCL) and newly-formed Najran Cricket Association (NCA) who have been working in close coordination with the national body have now been affiliated with SCC.

SCC, with the support of Garamesh, has introduced the standardization of umpires and distributed umpires kit of international standards to over 250 umpires from all regions.

In addition to umpires, the decision has been taken to standardize stumps and cricket balls being used in all matches.

The AGM was convened by SCC CEO Nadeem Nadwi and was jointly chaired by Tariq Javed, chairman of executive council (EC), and Akram Qureshi, chairman executive cricket committee (ECC).

Nadeem briefed about the recently-concluded ICC World T20 Asia Group A qualifier event which was held in Kuwait, with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Maldives, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the host competing for three spots to reach the Asia regional final in 2019.

Saudi Arabia recoded impressive victories over Bahrain, Kuwait, Maldives and secured third position. Nadeem praised the performance of Imran Arif, who was adjudged the best bowler of the tournament. He thanked all the team players and officials for their efforts and exemplary discipline. The CEO also thanked all the participants of AGM and appreciated their support to Saudi cricket.
