Park Hyatt Jeddah all set for Masters of Food 2018

April 04, 2018

PARK Hyatt Jeddah invites you to put your cooking talents to test on Saturday (April 7) at its exclusive “Masters of Food” event, from 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Andalusia restaurant. Spend the day interacting with their expert chefs to discover your culinary genius while preparing one of Marrakech's most popular dishes – “Tangia.”

Starting from Andalusia with a refreshing blend of its signature cocktail, guests will then learn from Park Hyatt Jeddah’s chef as he narrates the history behind making Marrakech's unique dish – “Tangia”, while they make their own. While tangia is slowly cooked underground, guests will be escorted to the resort’s award-winning spas for a royal Moroccan Hammam treat or to simply enjoy the facilities at Evania, for ladies, and Seba, for gentleman. To end the day, guests will enjoy their own cooked tangia at Andalusia restaurant. As some would put it, Morocco’s culinary history runs deep, but visitors have to work a little to uncover the true gems.

Tangia is prepared in a clay pot or a Greek urn for the purpose of slow cooking. Rather than cook the meat at home, the tangia would be brought to an oven close to a Hammam, where it would sit in the ashes of the wood fires burning underneath the many Marrakech hammams and public baths. The dish includes simple but yet incredible ingredients that are mixed carefully and sealed in the clay pot. Historically known to be prepared by the men of the household, “Tangia” is also known as “bachelor's stew.” The minimum cooking time for tangia is an incredible five hours, at the end of which the meat is tender, succulent and tasty. — SGP
