Rotten fish, meat seized in Makkah

Al-Shawqikkiyah municipality in Makkah on Wednesday confiscated and destroyed more the 1,200 kg of rotten fish and meat. Chairman of municipality Mamdouh Iraqi said the fish was seized from the local fish market while being readied for distribution among retail shops. He said three trucks used for transporting the fish and meat were also seized. Iraqi said the municipality would intensify its supervision of the markets to make sure that the food items sold are suitable for human consumption. — SG photo by Badea Abu Al-Naja
