LOS ANGELES — UCLA was still reeling from its two overtime losses at Oregon State and Oregon over the weekend. Its cure for those blues was a second-half spark from senior point guard Jordin Canada.

Canada scored all of her 20 points in the second half to lead the No. 10 Bruins to a 73-67 victory over Colorado Thursday night.

Canada also had 11 assists. It was her third consecutive game with 20 points or more, and she eclipsed the 2,000-point milestone. She now has 2,009 points.

Monique Billings added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Bruins, who narrowly avoided the upset on their home court.

Kennedy Burke made a 3-pointer from the right wing to break a tie and gave UCLA a 67-64 lead with 1:13 left. Canada made a pair of free throws with 27 seconds remaining to seal the win. UCLA made all six of its free throws in the final minute.

Alexis Robinson scored a career-high 31 points for Colorado.

The last time the teams played, UCLA got off to a 16-0 run and never looked back in a 93-55 win in January at Colorado. This was much different.

Gonzaga 77, San Diego 72

Gonzaga coach Mark Few stared at the box score after beating the University of San Diego and shook his head.

“Nothing really jumps out at you,” Few said. “It was an even game but we hung with it.”

Killian Tillie scored 17 points and Rui Hachimura added 16 in No. 6 Gonzaga’s 77-72 victory Thursday night that clinched at least a share of the West Coast Conference title.

The Bulldogs (26-4, 16-1 WCC) defeated the Toreros (17-12, 8-9) for the eighth straight game and for the 19th time in their last 20 meetings.

Olin Cater III led San Diego with 21 points.

The Toreros are known for their defense but it was the Bulldogs holding San Diego without a field goal over a six-minute stretch late in the game that was the difference. Few went to his bigger lineup with Tillie, Hachimura and Johnathan Williams and it paid off.

Gonzaga demolished San Diego in last year’s visit by 58 points.

Arizona 75, Oregon State 65

Headed to the line with Arizona down two points late in the game, Rawle Alkins thought about his mechanics, as he’d uncharacteristically missed half his free throws on the night.

Deandre Ayton had 19 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks, and No. 14 Arizona, minus one of its star players, beat Oregon State 75-65 Thursday.

Alkins added clutch scoring with 16 points and eight rebounds, and Dusan Ristic had 14 points for the Wildcats (22-6, 12-3 Pac-12), who were without guard Allonzo Trier.

Trier was declared ineligible by the NCAA after a trace amount of a banned substance was found during a late January drug screening, according to a university statement released Thursday. — AP
