All you need to know about Gluten-Free living

Saudi Gazette

The gluten-free diet has become a lifestyle and even if you referred to it as a fad, it isn’t going anywhere.

Sure, a lot of people who do often order gluten-free food have no idea of what it is. Neither do their friends who just nod in congregation assuming it is “one of those healthy things.” Lets change that. Lets learn about what it really is, why it can be useful to you and more importantly why your friend is on this diet for the last two years. Gluten is basically a mixture of proteins found in wheat and related grains, including barley, rye, oat, and all their species and hybrids. It can cause harm for people with celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity. People with celiac disease have an immune reaction that is triggered by gluten. They can develop inflammation and damage in their intestinal tracts including other parts of the body when they eat foods containing gluten.

It feels like gluten sensitivities and gluten-intolerance are on the rise, making gluten a very popular topic of conversation wherever you go. But maybe it is because many people were unaware and now that they can, they have found support in their friends and food chains worldwide that adhere to the rules of a gluten free diet.
