CHICAGO — Jonathan Toews had a goal and two assists and the Chicago Blackhawks ripped the Washington Capitals 7-1 Saturday night to end an eight-game losing streak.

Patrick Kane, Brandon Saad and Ryan Hartman each added a goal and an assist in a 44-shot attack that took advantage of Washington breakdowns and powered Chicago to its first win since Jan. 30 at Nashville. Nick Schmaltz, Artem Anisimov and rookie Alex DeBrincat also scored to help the Blackhawks snap a seven-game slide at home before season-high crowd of 22,066 at the United Center.

Tom Wilson scored for the Capitals, whose first-place lead in the Metropolitan Division over Pittsburgh slipped to one point.

Chicago’s Anton Forsberg stopped 19 shots. Washington’s Braden Holtby allowed six goals on 33 shots through two periods. Philipp Grubauer took over in goal to start the third and gave up a goal on 11 shots.

Washington’s Barry Trotz coached his 1,500th NHL game. He joined four others in reaching that mark, including Chicago’s Joel Queneville.

Ducks 3, Wild 2: Nick Ritchie scored in the 11th round of the shootout to give the Anaheim Ducks a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild.

John Gibson made 36 saves for the Ducks, who moved into third place in the Pacific Division in the Western Conference with 69 points. Corey Perry and Ondrej Kase scored goals and Hampus Lindholm had two assists for Anaheim, which improved to 4-6 in shootouts this season.

Jason Zucker and Mikko Koivu scored for the Wild while Devan Dubnyk finished with 29 saves.

Anaheim, taking advantage of a holding penalty on Nino Niederreiter, needed only 50 seconds to score the first goal as Perry intercepted a pass from Mikael Granlund back toward his own net and wrapped a shot around Dubnyk’s left pad for his 12th goal of the season.

Kings 4, Sabres 2: Michael Amadio and Anze Kopitar scored two goals each as Los Angeles snapped a three-game losing streak with a win over Buffalo at KeyBank Center.

Jonathan Quick made 33 saves for L.A., which notched its second win of a seven-game road trip that ends with a back-to-back Monday in Chicago and Tuesday in Winnipeg. The Kings tied Anaheim for fourth place in the Pacific Division, just a point behind Calgary and Minnesota for the final Western Conference playoff spot.

Los Angeles came out of the gate flying, outshooting the Sabres 19-8 in the first period. Goalie Robin Lehner kept Buffalo in contention with 18 stops in the period, but Amadio beat him at 11:26 for his third goal. He took a pass from Andy Andreoff and shoveled a wrister from the right circle that trickled through Lehner’s pads.

Senators 6, Rangers 3: Derick Brassard recorded a goal and two assists as Ottawa beat New York at Canadian Tire Centre.

Brassard had the primary assists on Mark Stone’s goal in the first period and Thomas Chabot’s tally in the third. The former Ranger center tallied for the fourth straight game late in the second period.

Matt Duchene and Chabot each collected a goal and an assist as Ottawa won its fifth straight home game and for the sixth time in the last nine games overall.

Coyotes 1, Oilers 0: Christian Dvorak’s deflection of an Oliver Ekman-Larsson shot 3:26 into the match was the game’s only goal and netminder Antti Raanta turned away 40 shots to lead Arizona over Edmonton at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz.

Golden Knights 6, Canadiens 3: Reilly Smith had two goals and an assist and Jonathan Marchessault tied his career-high for points in a game with three assists as Vegas routed Montreal at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Penguins 5, Maple Leafs 3: Evgeni Malkin finished with a goal and two assists, eclipsing 900 points for his career, and Pittsburgh extended its home winning streak to 11 games with a victory over Toronto.

Devils 4, Lightning 3: Miles Wood’s goal at 1:24 of the third period gave New Jersey a victory over Tampa Bay at Amalie Arena.

Red Wings 3, Predators 1: Luke Witkowski scored the first goal of his four-year career, Petr Mrazek made 31 saves and Detroit downed Nashville on the road.

Canucks 6, Bruins 1: Former Bruin Loui Eriksson scored two goals, including the first of four opening-period tallies for Vancouver, in a rout of visiting Boston.

Panthers 6, Flames 3: Florida scored three quick goals in the second period to beat host Calgary. — Agencies
