JEDDAH — Saudi Weddings Fair 2018, an exciting event for every female, is going to take place at Jeddah Hilton Hotel on Feb. 22-24. The event exhibits the latest creativity of Saudi companies as well as international agencies in the weddings and brides’ world.

“This is our first time having a fashion show together with the exhibition itself. The show will have the latest designs and with the participation of many well-known designers. Not only that, but we will also have the media influencer Noha Nabil as our guest of honor for this year,” said the manager of the exhibition Dareen Kaboush during a press conference on Thursday night.

Lubna Shaban represented the Saudi Forum of Fashion Designers, the main sponsor of the event. “We want to show the world what Saudi female designers are capable of and our unique creativity,” she said at a press conference while representing the other members of the forum who are Amal Angawi, Lutfia Momena, Buthaina Baljoun, Sabiha Afghani, Rana Riri, and Muna Al-Raihan.

“This exhibition is an icon in the world of beauty and weddings. It takes place every year and gathers some of the best specialists and designers all in one place,” added designer and engineer, Yaser Al-Madani.

Speaking to Saudi Gazette, Ethnic and Traditional Folklore Customs Designer Sabiha Afghani said “our goal is to develop the Saudi fashion industry as much as we can and to put the Saudi designs and designers on the international fashion scene. We work very hard for this and take this mission seriously. What we need is the governmental support and encouragement to back us up with expensive electronic laser machines needed for certain cuts. Also, when we do international shows we have excess luggage, and when we order supplies or goods from foreign countries we would like the customs to cooperate with us and make the procedure easier for us.”

“A garment with a "Made in Saudi Arabia" label will be something to be proud of not just for us but for all the Saudis. It is our dream that maybe one day, with the cooperation of other Saudi designers we will lessen our imports and fill the needs of the Saudi market for exclusive ready-made garments ourselves,” she added.

The exhibition is one of the biggest female-events in wedding dresses, fashion, cosmetics, gifts, and everything else the bride needs. Around 160 Saudi and international agencies are participating in the 19th Saudi International Wedding Fair 2018 while XS for organizing conferences and exhibitions is organizing the event along with the support of the General Entertainment Authority.
