AL-FORSAN, Abu Dhabi — Talented young Saudi racer Abdullah Al-Dossari is making his final preparations before taking part in Friday’s fourth round of the UAE’s Karting X30 Challenge at the Al-Forsan circuit, located in the Al-Forsan International Sports Resort in Abu Dhabi.

The 13-year-old son of Issa Al-Dossari, rally driver and recent winner of the Hail Nissan International Cross-Country Rally, has entered in the X30 Junior category (12-15 years old) of the IAME Series X30 Challenge UAE and will race under the banner of the ED Racing Team.

The operation was founded by his father at the start of the year as a professional motor sport team, with several drivers participating in a range of competitive disciplines across the GCC. Abdullah is cutting his teeth in karting and embarking upon his first steps to becoming a racing driver.

The ED Racing Team is hoping to achieve success in local, regional and international competition, in conjunction with the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation (SAMF), which continues to support and promote motor sport activities in the Kingdom.

The Abu Dhabi circuit is one of the best venues for karting in the Arab region and is characterised by fast straights and tricky chicanes and turns.

Al-Dossari said: “This will be my first participation in the Emirates Karting Championship. I have been training for three months and I hope I can honour my country with success in this championship. I also want to take part in the Bahrain karting championship in order to gain more experience and skills.”

The young Saudi also plans to take part in further training courses at a specialised motor sport academy in Italy or Austria and benefit from the expertise of professional coaches.

In the X30 Junior category, Al-Dossari faces competition from young kart racers from Australia, India, Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, UAE, Oman, Jordan and France.

The 2017-2018 championship in the UAE runs over six rounds at the RAK Track, Dubai Kartdrome, Al-Forsan and Yas Marina race circuits. The top three finishers in each championship category win entries to the IAME International Final at Le Mans in France. — SG
