February 07, 2018

JEDDAH — Banswada Ball Burners (BBB) will lock horns with Pepsi Deccan Knight (PDK) Shawahid Technology in the CIT SPL T20 third edition final at the JCA grounds in Usfan here Friday.

This time two new teams will fight it out for their first SPL title and it is expected to be an absorbing match.

The event, organized by Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA), is sponsored by Canadian International Trading Company and co-sponsored by Initial Services, Air India, Hyderabad Sharks, Khind Electronics, Arrow Food Distribution Company (Mizo Juices) and Hadeel Travel.

Banswada Ball Burners upset the applecart of Hyderabad Sharks by beating them comfortably by 6 wickets with 2.3 overs to spare in Qualifier 2.

Batting first, Hyderabad Sharks batting woes continued as they lost wickets early, although Saddam (47) and Shehzaad (39) steadied the innings and later Sada (37) chipped in with some late order hitting. However, none of the other batsmen had an answer to the spin of Khawar Sohail who picked up 3 for 20, well supported by Rana Shahzad (2 for 38), who took the purple cap from Bilal Moghul of PDK. Hyderabad Sharks were bundled out for 175.

In reply, BBB batting duo of Amer Wahla and Amer Siddiqui sent the Shark bowlers on a leather hunt as they went on the offensive from the start, aided by some ordinary fielding as crucial catches were dropped. Wahla slammed a superb 70 off 40 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes, while Siddiqui played an equally ferocious knock of 64 off 33 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes — both being dismissed when well set. BBB ultimately reached the target of 176 for 4 in 17.3 overs.
