RTJ Baguio Transient House strikes again

— Defending champion RTJ Baguio Transient House won its third Team of the Week award in five outings during the fifth session in the OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club) Friday Afternoon League Season 8 at the Iceland Bowling Center.

Another inspired display by Baguio Transient House not only gave the title holder the team award but the men’s Bowler of the Week plum as well, courtesy of Rico Bulalayao, even as Casadores took over Crime Busters at second place during the exciting session.

RTJ’s bowlers and Casadores actually tied on 26 points but the former prevailed on the total pinfalls countback 2, 506 to 2, 498 to earn the nod as Team of the Week.

Lucky Ones compiled 21 points on the day followed by Spareshots (18), Crime Busters (17) and Forever Living (16).

Young Once and SGH Bowling Group was the tailender on 12 and 8.

Bulalayao shot the high series of 577 to take charge of a single five-man rotation at RTJ in which team captain Joel Nidoy carded 512, manager Rudy Jamon 510, Darlene Bulalayao 462 and Malou Nidoy 445.

While it narrowly missed what could have been back-to-back awards Casadores gained consolation from an individual award, courtesy of Farida De Guzman.

De Guzman clinched her consecutive ladies Bowler of the Week award on 553, which became the new high series with handicap record to beat in her division.

Tope Sayson backed up De Guzman at Casadores on 523. Ed Cordova added 49, Ed Labuac had 488 and Conrad Baltazar 445.

Taking up the cudgels for Lucky Ones were the quintet of Cesar Pagtalunan 547, Edwin Agustin and Johar Palot who had matching 503s, Noli De Leon 488 and Roel Osman 418.

The duo of Danny Atubang and Carmen Duma showed the way at Spareshots on 519 and 508, respectively, with Alan Ornedo on 489, Jose Antonio Bayag Jr. on 458 and Alex Duma on 452.

For Crime Busters the main man was Randy Del Remedios who drilled 537 that went with the 489 by Vilma Miranda, 479 by Ryan Latigo, 446 by Samuel Tesfai and 420 by Mildred Florentino.

Struggling Forever Living had Sergio Modar and Jon Belo narrowly missing to break 500 with rounds of 498 and 493, while Narciso Caranang had 473, Sarah Atienza 463 and Teresa Hanopol 424.

De Guzman’s was the only record set for the week. The other existing records to beat after five sessions were: Men — 227 high game scratch Randy Del Remedios, 223 high game with handicap Jaime Flores, 556 high series scratch Ed Cordova, 610 high series with handicap Joel Nidoy.

Ladies — 171 high game scratch Malou Nidoy, 204 high game with handicap Mildred Florentino, 439 high series scratch Fatima Jintarat.
