Pakistani movie ‘Punjab Nahi Joungi’ screened at Asian film fest

— Pakistani movie ‘’Punjab Nahi Joungi’’ (Will not go to Punjab) was screened at the 11th Asian Film Festival 2018, organized by Asian Consuls General Club (ACGC) Jeddah, at the beautiful lawn of Pakistani Consul General Shehryar Akbar Khan’s residence last week.

Consul General Pakistan welcomed all the guests which included several consuls general, diplomats, dignitaries and large number of prominent families from the Pakistani and Saudi community. He also briefly shed light on the progress of the Pakistan film industry.

“Punjab Nahi Joungi” is an Urdu language film. The film revolves around the lead characters of the film making a love triangle. It depicts society and cultural of Pakistan. It is a light romantic comedy film with flavor of love and sorrow and a happy ending. It is latest movie of Pakistan and was released in August 2017. In Pakistan it was rated amongst the top earners.

Film started after the guests enjoying the delicious foods, snacks, tea and soft drinks provided by a local restaurant of Jeddah.

It is the first Pakistani movie shown in Jeddah after the Saudi government’s announcement to open cinemas in the Kingdom.

In his opening remarks Irfan Malik, senior vice president-ARY Films, thanked the cooperation of Consulate General Pakistan, diplomats, dignitaries and audience. He hoped that ACGC festival would bring more closer peoples of the region and strengthen social and cultural relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The 120 minutes duration film is directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamer. Produced by Salman Iqbal, Humayun Saeed, Hassan Saeed and Shahzad Nasib. It stars Humayun Saeed, Mehwish Hayat and Urwa Hocane in lead roles.

Other stars are Sohail Ahmed as Mahtaab Khagga, Saba Hameed as Firdous Khagga, Ahmad Ali Butt as Shafique Ahmed, Waseem Abbas as Jawad Khagga, Azfar Rehman as Vasay, Behroze Sabzwari as Dastoor Ahmed, Safina Sheikh as Mrs. Dastoor Ahmed, Naveed Shehzad as Bebo Ji, Ushna Shah.

The audience enjoyed the film till the end in one of pleasing evening of Jeddah. ACGC club shows movies of its respective countries every year.
