SABIC supports Saudi participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

ABU DHABI — SABIC is actively participating in the activities of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2018 being held from Jan. 13 to 20, highlighting its leadership in sustainability in Saudi Arabia and the GCC.

The Saudi delegation at the ADSW represents the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources and 14 Saudi sectors specialized in energy, industry and electricity.

SABIC is supporting the Kingdom's participation with an interactive pavilion, which runs until Jan. 18. SABIC will host a number of conferences and business meetings at the event, which brings together prominent think tanks, policy makers, industry leaders and those concerned with global environmental affairs.

Mohammed Al-Subayel, general manager, SABIC Dubai, and Mushabeb Al-Qahtani, general manager, process & energy management, corporate manufacturing, are leading SABIC's delegation. They will participate in four of total 12 panel discussions on energy management and conservation, sustainability solutions and modern CO2 utilization technologies.

SABIC's participation comes in support of the Kingdom's efforts and initiatives to achieve and enable sustainability in the national economy, and to consolidate the values and practices of sustainability in society in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

SABIC, along with the participating sectors, will highlight future initiatives and projects in raising energy efficiency, developing modern and innovative technologies to enhance sustainability, and other related topics.

Other members of the Saudi delegation include Saudi Aramco, Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF), Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, Saudi Geological Survey, Saudi Electricity Company, Saudi Industrial Property Authority (Modon), National Industrial Clusters Development Program, King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center, Renewable Energy Projects Development Office, and Dussur.

The Saudi pavilion will host a number of lectures and panel discussions from Jan. 15 to17, covering renewable energy, future of clean energy, energy efficiency, sustainable development, recycling, water resources, the national atomic energy project, localization of the electricity sector and related services, and solar energy and its associated value systems.

ADSW promotes and raises awareness on the most important social and economic trends that shape the world’s sustainable development, and empowers communities to realize strategies to reduce climate change. — SG
