Fifth stage of Jeddah parking project to be completed soon

JEDDAH
— The Jeddah Development and Urban Regeneration Company under the supervision of Jeddah Municipality will soon be operating 5,000 smart parking spaces in various parts of the city with the completion of the fifth stage of the project, which began three years ago.

The parking areas are in Al-Balad historical area, the southern market, Al-Hindawiya, and the Passport Department in Al-Sharafiya and King Fahd Bridge.

The company has also readied walking areas with a total length of 33 kilometers.

Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, the head of the Jeddah parking project at the company, said they implemented the paid parking system in the city in several stages.

Now parking facilities are available in 38 streets stretching over 55 kilometers, he said, adding that the fifth stage would be completed soon.

The Jeddah parking project started in 2014 with 514 parking spaces at the historical area. The second stage included 1,160 parkings at the southern market, followed by 1,186 in Al-Hindawiya and 445 near the Passport Office in Sharafiya.

Al-Ghamdi said with the completion of the fifth stage, the city would have 5,000 paid parking spaces for visitors to major commercial areas and business centers.
